The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City is hosting an exhibition entitled ‘Vintage Black Heroes: the Chisholm Kid’. The exhibition features rare colour panels from the Chisholm Kid comic strips, which were first published in the Pittsburgh Courier during the 1950s. The strip’s eponymous hero was the first Black cowboy to feature in a comic strip. The panels that make up the exhibition have been preserved by the Museum of UnCut Funk. The exhibition runs until 17 September 2017.
