The noted Spaghetti Western director Tonino Valerii passed away on 13 October 2016.

Valerii had been Sergio Leone’s assistant director on A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and For a Few Dollars More (1965) before taking on a Western project of his own, A Taste of Killing (1966) which starred Craig Hill and Fernando Sancho.

Bigger and better Western projects soon followed: Day of Anger (1967) which starred Lee Van Cleef and Giuliano Gemma, The Price of Power (1969) which starred Giuliano Gemma and Benito Stefanelli, A Reason to Live, A Reason to Die (1972) which starred James Coburn, Telly Savalas and Bud Spencer and My Name is Nobody (1973) which starred Terence Hill and Henry Fonda.
