With the untimely passing of Phil Taylor and Lemmy Kilmister, 2015 has been a sad year for fans of the iconic British rock group Motörhead. ‘Shoot You in the Back’ from their classic Ace of Spades album remains a fantastic Westerns-inspired rock song that showcases the band at their best. The above shot shows the classic line-up of Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke and Philthy Animal Taylor channeling the song during the cover photo sessions for the Ace of Spades album. I first saw the band play live on the tour that was recorded for their No Sleep ‘Til Hammersmith live album and I was thrilled when they played excerpts from Ennio Morricone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly soundtrack album over the darkened concert hall’s PA system before launching headlong into their own blistering live set. Somebody should have cast the band in a Spaghetti Western.
