In collaboration with the 6th Holmfirth Film Festival, Lee Broughton programmed and introduced a screening of Ferdinando Baldi’s cult Spaghetti Western Django, Prepare a Coffin (Italy, 1968). Lee introduced the screening with a public paper titled ‘The changing face of Django’. The paper discussed how the popularity of Sergio Corbucci’s Django (Italy/Spain, 1966) resulted in the production of numerous unofficial and unrelated “Django” movies during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Particular attention was focused on the circumstances that surrounded the production of two official Django sequels, Django, Prepare a Coffin starring Terence Hill and Django Strikes Again (Nello Rossati, Italy, 1987) starring Franco Nero. The event took place at the Adult Education Centre in Holmfirth on 16 May 2015. The screening was kindly supported by the Leverhulme Trust.
